Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer focused on Electrical Integration for our main cabin seating team. You will design major components and systems, develop prototypes, and support manufacturing operations while considering ease of fabrication, material availability, and cost.

This role requires collaboration across electrical, design, and project teams to ensure compliance with FAA certification and vendor requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience designing mechanical systems for aircraft seating is preferred.
• Proficiency with Siemens NX and other 3D CAD tools.
• Experience with Teamcenter or other PDM tools is preferred.
• Experience integrating electrical components (routing, harnesses, and mechanical installations).
• DFMA principles knowledge is desirable.
• Familiarity with FAA certification processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Integrate electrical components and wiring into seating design while meeting vendor and OEM requirements.
• Liaise between electrical integration team, design engineering, vendors and project teams.
• Prepare work statements for electrical integration team.
• Direct outsource resources on projects in electrical integration areas.
• Verify system configuration and block diagrams.
• Prepare, modify and release drawings created in CAD (NX) to verify fit, form and function.
• Design brackets and fixations for electrical components and wiring; verify structural acceptability by testing prototypes for reliability and FAA certification.
• Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs and communicate with suppliers.
