Job summary

Karman Space & Defence is seeking an experienced engineer to lead testing and development of advanced aerospace mechanical systems in Mukilteo, WA. You will guide stages from concept to prototype, coordinate with customers and internal teams, and mentor junior engineers in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on testing, design validation, proposal support, and collaboration across defense programs, with a strong focus on safety and mission readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering is required.
• 4–7 years aerospace/defense experience.
• Experience leading product development tests and qualification testing.
• Proficient with data acquisition systems and instrumentation.
• Solid understanding of multiple engineering technologies.
• Knowledge of military and commercial specifications preferred.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks and GD&T.
• DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Lead testing planning and execution for mechanical system development.
• Meet client goals on time and within budget; ensure deliverables are complete.
• Prepare test reports, perform data analysis, and document results.
• Support business development and project performance efforts.
• Lead proposals by engaging with clients and technical staff.
• Mentor junior engineers and act as a technical resource.
• Demonstrate passion for aerospace in a fast-paced environment.
