Job summary

Hermeus is seeking a Components Manufacturing Engineer to own the fabrication of critical hardware from concept to production. You will drive DFMA, process development, and continuous improvement for valves, actuators, manifolds, and electro-mechanical assemblies.

This hands-on role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, first-principles environment, bridging design, materials, and production teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years hands-on precision component manufacturing experience (aerospace/defense preferred).
• Proven ability to develop, validate, and scale new manufacturing processes from concept to production.
• Strong GD&T knowledge and material behavior understanding.
• Hands-on experience in process development, fixture design, and failure analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop end-to-end manufacturing processes for complex mechanical components.
• Drive design for manufacturability (DFM) with design engineers from concept to release.
• Define and optimize process parameters for laser welding, precision machining, assembly, and inspection.
• Lead first-article builds, troubleshoot non-conformances, implement corrective actions.
• Own planning and scheduling for the sheet metal shop, ensuring on-time delivery.
• Design and procure tooling, fixtures, and test equipment to improve quality and throughput.
• Support technicians on the production floor by troubleshooting issues and corrective actions.
• Establish and maintain process documentation, manufacturing plans, and control plans.
• Collaborate with quality, supply chain, and test teams to ensure component performance.
• Develop data-driven approaches for process control and yield improvement.
• Serve as technical authority for component manufacturing.
