Job summary

The Boeing Graduate Researcher Program (GRP) in Engineering & Technology Innovation invites PhD students to join the Aerodynamics Engineering intern team in St. Louis, MO for Summer 2027.

You will contribute to CFD tool development and multi-disciplinary analysis under mentorship, applying academic expertise to real-world aerospace challenges. Selected interns engage in hands-on projects, attend GRP programming, and collaborate with host teams to advance fidelity, efficiency, and innovative

Qualifications

  • Completed the first year of PhD studies by July 2027.
  • Pursuing a PhD in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field of study.
  • Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during Summer 2027.
  • Experience in development of aerodynamic analysis and optimization tools and processes with the goal of increasing fidelity while reducing cycle time and cost.
  • Experience with compressible flows and turbulence modeling.
  • Fundamental knowledge of computational fluid dynamics.
  • Background in range of numerical methods appropriate for unstructured grid CFD.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance internal CFD code to include more time-dependent modeling effects.
  • Collaborate with code developers and application engineers.
  • Aim to increase fidelity while reducing cycle time and cost.
