Qualifications

  • Completed the first year of PhD studies by July 2027
  • Pursing a PhD in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field of study
  • Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during Summer 2027
  • Experience in development of aerodynamic analysis and optimization tools and processes with the goal of increasing fidelity while reducing cycle time and cost
  • Experience with compressible flows and turbulence modeling
  • Fundamental knowledge of computational fluid dynamics
  • Background in range of numerical methods appropriate for unstructured grid CFD

Responsibilities

  • The role will involve enhancing an internal CFD code to include more time-dependent modeling effects, both in terms of fluids and multi-disciplinary analysis.
  • Efforts to increase efficiency of the aerodynamic simulation process or to benchmark current capabilities may also be performed.
  • This work will involve collaboration with both code developers and application engineers.
