Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Electrical Design Engineer for the Raptor 3D Printer team in Hawthorne, CA. You will own electrical systems from concept to production for LPBF printers, driving requirements, circuit design, and validation in a fast-paced environment with direct impact on engine production rates.

You will collaborate with mechanical, software, automation, and additive teams, shaping hardware from PCB design to testing and activation, while ensuring manufacturability and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering.
• 5+ years designing circuits, electronic products, or hardware.
• Experience with industrial automation, laser systems, high-power electronics, motion control.
• 2+ years designing and delivering highly reliable products.
• Experience with sensors, embedded MCU design and firmware, and FPGA development.

Responsibilities

• Design new electrical hardware, PCBs and implement modifications.
• Create and release fabrication documentation for PCBs.
• Provide ownership of electronic hardware on additive machines from development to production.
• Drive changes to schematics and drawings to improve reliability and cost.
• Perform root cause investigations and mitigate production risks.
• Derive engineering justification to resolve production issues across assembly and test.
