Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA seeks an Electrical Design Engineer for Raptor 3D Printers. You will own electrical systems for next-generation LPBF printers, driving requirements, circuit design, development, qualification, and production integration to support rocket engine production rates.

Responsibilities include designing hardware, PCBs, test setups, and collaborating across disciplines to deliver robust, manufacturable, cost-effective designs with extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering.
• 3+ years of industry experience designing circuits, electronic products, or hardware.

Responsibilities

• Design new electrical hardware, PCBAs, and implement modifications to improve reliability.
• Create and release documentation for fabrication of PCBs.
• Provide ownership of electronic hardware on additive machines from development through implementation.
• Drive changes to electrical schematics and mechanical drawings to improve reliability and cost.
• Perform root cause investigations to characterize off-nominal unit behavior and mitigate risk.
• Derive engineering justification to resolve production issues through assembly, test, and activation.
• Design test setups and execute hardware validation through benchtop and environmental testing.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, automation, and controls teams to deliver integrated hardware.
• Drive system trades, requirements capture, component selection, analysis, and PCB layout.
• Challenge assumptions and learn from mistakes with an open mind.
