Job summary

AST SpaceMobile in Midland, TX is seeking a skilled 3-Axis CNC Machinist to set up, operate and maintain CNC milling machines for precision aerospace components.

The ideal candidate will read engineering drawings, select tooling, and perform inspections with calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential. Aerospace experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; machining certificate or technical training preferred.
• Minimum 3 years CNC machining experience; must operate and set up 3-axis CNC milling machines.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 3-axis CNC milling machines.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Select tooling, fixtures, cutting speeds, and feeds for machining operations.
• Perform machine offsets, tool changes, and machine adjustments.
• Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Verify product quality and ensure compliance with engineering requirements.
• Troubleshoot machining and setup issues.
• Monitor machine operation and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
• Perform minor machine maintenance and routine preventative maintenance.
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
• Follow all company safety and quality procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the machine shop.
