Job summary

Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works division in Palmdale seeks a Subsystem Design Engineer to deliver high‑performance aerospace subsystem solutions from concept through production. You will develop, test, and validate designs, troubleshoot issues, and create 3‑D CATIA/3DX models, drawings, and system specifications, coordinating with suppliers and teams.

This role requires a Bachelor’s in a relevant engineering discipline, CAD tool experience, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance; a 4x10

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical/Aerospace/Aeronautical).
• Experience with 3DX, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, Unigraphics, NX or equivalent CAD tool.
• Experience creating/modifying drawings and aircraft subsystem designs.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance.
• Hands-on engineering experience.

You will be the Skunk Works Subsystem Design Engineer for the Advanced Development Programs (Skunk Works®) which is responsible for pioneering aerospace subsystem innovations.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Skunk Works Subsystem Design Engineer you will be responsible for delivering high-performance subsystem solutions from concept through production. Your responsibilities will include:

• Develop, test, and validate new and modified subsystem designs.
• Troubleshoot system malfunctions to determine root cause and corrective action.
• Create and maintain 3-D CATIA models, assemblies, installations, system requirements, interface/supplier control drawings, performance specifications, system checkout procedures and statements of work.
• Create system requirements, trade studies, sub-component and flight test plans.
• Coordinate with suppliers, internal and external integrated product teams, management and the customer.

Further Information About This Opportunity

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN -This position is located at a facility that requiresspecial access. The selected candidate must possess an active Secretclearance to start.

Designs, develops, and tests a variety of power plants, aircraft, missiles, and parts, taking into consideration the most efficient use of the natural laws affecting flight. Establishes structural specifications, performs stress analysis, and conducts performance tests.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering technical discipline such as Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical
• Experience with 3DX, CATIA, Solidworks, Pro Engineer, Creo, Unigraphics, NX, or equivalent 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool
• Experience creating and/or modifying drawings
• Experience with aircraft subsystem design, installation, and troubleshooting
• Hands on engineering experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance per business requirements

Desired Skills

• Experience with hand analysis for initial part layout
• Experience with metallic design
• Experience with tubing and equipment installation
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Active Secret Clearance
• 3 years of professional experience; or 1 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00

• Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
• For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
