Job summary

Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Engineer Staff for the AMMM team is responsible for delivering high‑performance airframe designs for military aircraft. You will develop innovative airframe structures, coordinate with stress, tooling, supply‑chain and QA, and ensure designs meet standards and manufacturability.

You will collaborate across disciplines, review drawings for accuracy, and optimize material use, weight, and cost while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of related experience in aerospace design.
  • Experience in CAD systems CATIA V5, NX, SolidWorks, CCD.
  • Experience with metallic or composite structural design.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑performance airframe designs that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop airframe structure designs and preliminary layouts ensuring manufacturability.
  • Conduct incremental design reviews and communicate progress with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with stress analysis, tooling, supply‑chain, and quality assurance teams.
  • Evaluate design factors such as material availability, weight efficiency, cost, and interchangeability.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to specifications, and recommend improvements.

As the Aeronautical Engineer Stf you will be responsible for delivering high‑performance airframe designs that meet rigorous customer and regulatory requirements.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN -This position is located at a facility that requiresspecial access; this position will require a government security clearance.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering, or high school diploma with equivalent experience in an Engineering role.
  • Generally has 5+ years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline.
  • Experience in CAD systems (e.g. CATIA V5, NX, SolidWorks, CCD etc.)
  • Experience with metallic or composite structural design
Desired Skills
  • Familiarity with mod / kit design
  • Familiarity with legacy aircraft programs and legacy drawing interpretation
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience with surfacing design and loft development
  • Excellent communication, presentation, people and team skills
  • Proven history of strong work habits and a positive attitude
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • C-130 experience
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
