Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts in Springfield, MA is seeking an experienced Aerial Lift Trimmer to perform professional tree maintenance near utility lines and support storm restoration efforts.

You will follow safety practices, operate ropes and rigging, identify tree species, and collaborate with the General Foreperson and crew. This role requires working at heights and traveling for storm work when needed.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate working knowledge of knots, ropes and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal operations.
• Must be able to identify tree species.
• Must be familiar with electrical hazards and procedures near electrical conductors and aerial techniques in emergencies aloft.
• Must work at considerable heights under varying weather conditions.
• Must possess physical strength and agility, balance, depth perception and hearing.
• Must obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR.
• Must administer emergency rescue techniques for tree rescue and first aid.
• Must quickly move away from danger.
• Must wear required PPE.
• Must travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing truck and materials for the day per General Foreperson’s directions.
• Perform professional tree maintenance activities as directed.
• Clear and trim trees/brush away from utility lines and remove branches.
• Clean up and dispose of debris.
• Maintain and track tools and equipment used daily.
• Practice climbing and tree maintenance skills to improve proficiency.
• Assist other crew members in daily activities.
• Safeguard employees and public from hazards by enforcing safe practices and maintaining a clean work area.
• Perform duties for storm work as needed.
