Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. seeks a part-time Advocate to provide direct advocacy services to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or challenging behaviors. Responsibilities include planning and implementing services using a wraparound approach while serving as a positive role model in various settings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Extremely organized and able to work independently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; EHR experience is a plus.
• Available evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, organize, plan, develop and implement direct advocacy services to participants and families.
• Base service plans on a strength-based wraparound model.
• Serve as a positive role model for youth in community, school, and home settings.
• Maintain dependability and professionalism; work with flexibility.
• Work with flexible hours (2pm–4pm as noted) and up to 10 hours weekly.

Job description

Status:Part Time HourlyFLSA classification:Non-Exempt

Summary of the Position:Hourly, Part-Time positions working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or challenging behaviors are available.

• Advocates must be dependable, committed, and able to serve as a positive role model for youth in the community, school, and home settings.
• The Primary responsibilitiesof the Advocate are to initiate, organize, plan, develop and implement direct advocacy services to assigned participants and their families.
• All service plans will be based on a strength-based approach using the wrap around model.
• This position offers flexible hours, competitive weekly pay, and activity reimbursement.

Work Hours: 2pm to 4pm Monday thru Friday

Availability: 10 hours per week

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be extremely organized
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be professional, flexible, and have the ability to work independently
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience using an electronic health record (EHR) system is a plus.
• Must be available evenings and weekends

• Experience in community work and knowledge of community resources.
• Bilingual (Spanish speaking) is a plus.
• Requires reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and current auto insurance coverage.
