Job summary

Lilly is seeking an Advisor, Knowledge Engineering and Data Management in Indianapolis to lead semantic data governance and knowledge-graph initiatives within the DDCS group. You will shape ontologies, taxonomies, and metadata while collaborating with engineers, quality and regulatory teams to deliver trusted data assets.

The role includes hands-on development of AI-enabled knowledge systems anchored in governed DDCS data assets, with emphasis on traceability and compliance in a regulated

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Information Science or related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience developing ontologies, taxonomies, and semantic models.
• Experience building knowledge graphs and using RDF/OWL/SPARQL/SHACL.
• Python programming experience for data integration, automation, or analytics.
• Strong collaboration with scientific, engineering, quality, regulatory, digital, and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain ontologies, taxonomies, vocabularies, and semantic models for DDCS concepts.
• Partner with engineers, scientists, quality, regulatory, and digital teams to translate domain knowledge into semantic models.
• Establish ownership, stewardship, metadata, lineage, and change control for semantic assets.
• Improve data definitions, source authority, semantic consistency, and traceability across data sources.
• Design, build, and operate knowledge graph capabilities across enterprise sources.
• Develop approaches for entity resolution, metadata harmonization, and semantic enrichment.
• Enable semantic search, graph-backed retrieval, and AI-ready knowledge structures.
• Design, build, and evaluate AI agents and LLM applications grounded in DDCS data assets.
• Apply version control, automated testing, validation, and documentation in regulated environments.
• Communicate modeling decisions and governance expectations clearly to stakeholders.
• Mentor scientists and data professionals on semantic technologies and data management.
