Job summary

AbbVie in Florham Park, NJ seeks an Associate Director, Data Semantic Governance to define governance standards and bridge business and IT across the enterprise.

You will lead semantic models, metadata, data quality, and lineage, partnering with Data Strategy, Analytics, BTS, and commercial teams to enable AI-ready data.

The role requires 7+ years in data governance, familiarity with Alation/Collibra, SQL, and cloud platforms, with pharma experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in information systems, business analytics, computer science, or related field.
• 7+ years in data governance/data management with business-IT liaison experience.
• Deep knowledge of data governance, metadata, and semantic layer design.
• SQL proficiency for profiling and quality assessment.
• Experience with cloud data ecosystems (Snowflake, AWS, Azure).
• Prior pharma/Life Sciences experience preferred.
• Excellent communication translating complex concepts to business.

Responsibilities

• Define semantic governance standards and decision framework.
• Collaborate with Data Strategy, Analytics, and BTS to design semantic layer and glossary.
• Operationalize data quality rules and end-to-end lineage.
• Influence executives and govern corporate data assets across units.
