Job summary

AbbVie is seeking an Associate Director, Data Semantic Governance to shape strategic direction for business data governance and enable AI-ready enterprise foundations. You will bridge business stakeholders with data operations and IT partners across the organization.

The role requires deep expertise in data governance, semantic architecture, metadata, and master data management, with the ability to influence executives and drive alignment on enterprise data priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in information systems or related field.
• 7+ years in data governance or data management.
• Expertise with data governance and cataloging platforms (e.g., Alation, Collibra) and MDM platforms (e.g., Reltio, Informatica).
• Advanced knowledge of data modeling, glossaries, data lineage, and semantic layer design.
• Strong SQL for data profiling, querying, and quality assessment.
• Experience with Snowflake, AWS, Azure cloud ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Strategic alignment & semantic governance: design governance processes and semantic layer design; align with BTS and business stakeholders.
• Execution, data quality & optimization: define data quality rules, monitor data health, ensure data assets are cataloged and lineage tagged.
• Enterprise influence & strategic enablement: communicate governance value to executives, represent governance in leadership forums and councils.
