Job summary

Lilly is seeking an Advisor in Analytical Development to advance biophysical characterization of lipid nanoparticle formulations within ADS. You will apply advanced single-particle techniques and collaborate with Process Development, Formulation, and Bioproduct R&D to deepen product understanding.

The role requires a PhD with hands-on nanoparticle experience and strong communication in a fast-paced setting, contributing to data-driven decisions and process improvements.

Qualifications

• PhD in biophysics, chemistry, or related field with 0–3 years postdoc/industry experience in nanoparticle formulations.
• Hands-on experience with single-particle techniques such as nanoFCM, FFF-MALS, SPARTA, and/or NTA.
• Strong understanding of nanoparticle biophysical properties and their relation to product performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement biophysical techniques to characterize LNP morphology, size, and polydispersity.
• Characterize particle-level features like empty/loaded ratios, ligand density, and cargo loading heterogeneity.
• Assess aggregation and stability attributes using single-particle methods.
• Design studies to link biophysical attributes to product performance (potency, stability, in vivo behavior).
• Qualify single-particle methods for accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility.
• Work with cross-functional teams to define CQAs and support optimization.
• Analyze complex datasets; present findings and actionable recommendations.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and potential external collaborations.
