Job summary

Phillips 66 is seeking an Advisor III, Data Science to turn complex data into insights, reporting, and analytics that drive business decisions and strategic planning. You will work across the enterprise with partners, SMEs, and technology teams to improve planning, operations, and performance measurement.

You’ll bring 3+ years in data science with Python, and a degree, with opportunities to lead analytics projects and embed models into business processes across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Identify high-value opportunities for data science and advanced analytics with business leaders.
• Translate business questions into well-defined analytical problems, objectives, and solution approaches.
• Collect, prepare, validate, and analyze large, complex data from multiple sources.
• Develop, test, and evaluate predictive, statistical, optimization, forecasting, and ML models.
• Apply methods in statistics, probability, mathematics, forecasting, and ML.
• Use Python and related tools for data exploration, feature engineering, model development, validation, visualization, and documentation.
• Interpret model outputs into clear insights, recommendations, and actions for business stakeholders.
• Communicate findings to technical and nontechnical audiences including leadership.
• Collaborate with data engineering, IT, and platform teams to deploy and monitor analytical solutions.
• Support adoption of models into recurring business processes and data products.
• Assess model assumptions, limitations, risks, performance, and appropriate use for responsible decisions.
• Contribute reusable analytical workflows, standards, tools, and best practices for the DS organization.
• Manage assigned work with planning and review processes, providing progress updates.

What You’ll Do

What You'll Bring - Required

• Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
• Bachelor’s degree
• 3 or more years of experience applying data science, advanced analytics, statistical modeling, machine learning, or mathematical modeling to business problems.
• Intermediate proficiency in Python

What Makes You Stand Out - Preferred

• Master’s degree or advanced training in a quantitative discipline
• More than 5 years of experience in analytics, data science, business intelligence, or a related field
• Experience in energy, refining, chemicals, manufacturing, commercial, supply chain, finance, or another industrial environment
• Experience with cloud-based analytics environments, modern data platforms, and model deployment workflows
• Familiarity with SQL, Git, notebooks, visualization tools, and common machine-learning libraries
• Experience supporting analytical solutions through productionization, monitoring, documentation, or operational adoption
• Knowledge of optimization, time-series forecasting, causal analysis, natural language processing, or artificial intelligence
• Experience explaining model assumptions, uncertainty, limitations, and business implications to decision-makers
• Experience coordinating the work of others
• Experience working with large, complex, and imperfect data sets
• Working knowledge of statistical methods, predictive modeling, model validation, and data visualization

Compensation Range

This position has a base salary range of $125,100 – $152,900
