Purpose

The demand for high-quality health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) and real-world evidence (RWE) to support drug development, health technology assessment, product differentiation, and clinical decision-making continues to grow. The HEOR team aims to accelerate equitable patient access and transform healthcare delivery through impactful science. We are looking for talented, energetic, creative, diverse, influential, and collaborative team members to join the HEOR function and Team Lilly.

The HEOR research scientist will provide strategic insight and leadership into health outcomes (HO) evidence needs, including health economics, patient-reported outcomes, real-world data, access, and reimbursement for Lilly’s portfolio. The role requires knowledge of health outcomes disciplines, therapeutic areas, drug development, commercialization, and geographic markets. Responsibilities include developing and articulating product value propositions, patient-reported outcomes strategies, real-world evidence generation, and differentiation strategies based on individual assignments.

Strategy
  • Drive integration of HEOR from early clinical development through commercialization.
  • Develop and oversee HO research strategies for Lilly’s compounds.
  • Serve as a strategic partner on development and commercialization teams.
  • Formulate and drive patient-focused outcomes, real-world evidence, and economic value strategies for key products and regions.
Study Development and Execution
  • Create high-impact science to support evidence needs and improve patient outcomes.
  • Apply expertise in statistical analysis, economic modeling, clinical trials, observational research, and health technology assessment.
  • Use disease knowledge and research methods to address HO issues related to registration, pricing, reimbursement, and access.
Organizational Leadership and Influence
  • Combine technical expertise with business understanding to build strategic relationships.
  • Lead HO evidence planning and implementation within cross-functional teams.
  • Influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives.
Information Dissemination
  • Communicate HO information effectively to partners, scientific community, and customers.
  • Lead dissemination efforts including abstracts, posters, presentations, and publications.
  • Align and drive application of results to maximize impact.
Environmental Awareness
  • Stay informed on developments in disease states, HO methodologies, and market trends.
  • Anticipate future market needs for HO information.
  • Monitor environmental factors affecting HO research and application.
Project Management
  • Ensure projects meet timelines, budgets, and scope through coordination with partners.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
  • Doctorate (PhD, MD) with up to 4 years, or PharmD/MS with up to 4 years of relevant experience.
Additional Preferences
  • Strong communication skills, ability to translate complex scientific information.
  • Experience influencing and collaborating across teams.
  • Understanding of healthcare systems in the US, Europe, or Asia.
  • Knowledge in economic modeling, evaluation, patient outcomes, and epidemiology.
  • Ability to drive research to completion and dissemination.
  • Global thinking with customer focus and solutions orientation.
Additional Information
  • Preference for Indianapolis-based; remote considered.
  • Travel may be required.

Compensation range: $132,000 - $211,200, plus bonus and benefits. Actual salary depends on education, experience, skills, and location.
