Purpose:

Summary: The demand for high-quality health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) and real-world evidence (RWE) to support drug development, health technology assessment, product differentiation, and clinical decision-making continues to grow. The HEOR team aims to accelerate equitable patient access and transform healthcare delivery through impactful science. We seek talented, energetic, creative, diverse, influential, and collaborative team members to join our HEOR function and Team Lilly.

The HEOR research scientist will provide strategic insights and leadership into health outcomes evidence needs, including health economics, patient-reported outcomes, real-world data, access, and reimbursement for Lilly’s portfolio. The role requires knowledge of health outcomes disciplines, therapeutic areas, drug development, commercialization, and geographic markets. Responsibilities include developing and articulating product value propositions, patient-reported outcomes strategies, real-world evidence generation, and differentiation strategies based on individual assignments.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Strategy:
    • Integrate HEOR from early clinical development through commercialization.
    • Develop and oversee health outcomes research strategies for portfolio compounds.
    • Serve as a strategic partner on development and commercialization teams.
    • Formulate patient-focused outcome, RWE, and economic value strategies for key products and regions.
  2. Study Development and Execution:
    • Create high-impact science to support evidence needs across product lifecycle.
    • Apply technical expertise in statistical analysis, economic modeling, clinical trials, observational research, and health technology assessment.
    • Use disease state knowledge to address issues related to registration, pricing, reimbursement, and access.
  3. Organizational Leadership and Influence:
    • Link technical skills with business insights and build strategic relationships.
    • Lead health outcomes evidence planning and collaborate across teams.
    • Influence stakeholders to achieve objectives.
  4. Information Dissemination:
    • Communicate health outcomes information effectively to internal and external audiences.
    • Lead dissemination efforts through abstracts, posters, presentations, and publications.
    • Align and drive the application of research results to maximize impact.
  5. Environmental Awareness:
    • Stay informed about developments in disease states, methodologies, and market trends.
    • Monitor factors influencing health outcomes research and its use.
  6. Project Management:
    • Ensure projects meet timelines, budgets, and scope through coordination with partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Doctorate (PhD, MD) or PharmD/MS with up to 4 years of relevant experience.
Additional Preferences:
  • Strong communication skills, ability to translate complex scientific info.
  • Influencing and collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of healthcare systems in the US, Europe, or Asia.
  • Experience with healthcare delivery models and clinical research.
  • Technical skills in economic modeling, evaluation, outcomes, epidemiology, and statistics.
  • Ability to drive research to completion and dissemination.
  • Global thinking with customer focus and solutions orientation.

  • Location: Indianapolis preferred; remote considered.
  • Travel may be required.

Salary range: $132,000 - $211,200. Compensation depends on education, experience, skills, and location. Benefits include a 401(k), pension, health insurance, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, paid time off, and well-being programs. Lilly reserves the right to modify compensation and benefits.
