Purpose

The demand for high-quality health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) and real-world evidence (RWE) continues to grow, supporting drug development, health technology assessments, and clinical decision-making. The HEOR team aims to accelerate equitable patient access and transform healthcare through impactful science. We seek talented, energetic, and collaborative team members to join our HEOR function and Team Lilly.

Role Overview

The HEOR research scientist will provide strategic leadership and insights into health outcomes evidence needs across Lilly’s portfolio, utilizing their expertise in health outcomes, therapeutic area knowledge, drug development, and market understanding. Responsibilities include project ownership, developing value propositions, patient-reported outcomes strategies, and real-world evidence generation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategy: Drive integration of HEOR from early development through commercialization; develop and oversee research strategies for portfolio compounds; serve as a strategic partner on development and commercialization teams.
  2. Study Development and Execution: Develop impactful science to support evidence needs; apply technical expertise in analysis, modeling, and research methods; address HO issues related to registration, pricing, reimbursement, and access.
  3. Organizational Leadership and Influence: Build strategic relationships; lead evidence planning; influence internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Information Dissemination: Communicate research findings effectively; lead dissemination efforts including publications and presentations.
  5. Environmental Awareness: Stay updated on disease developments and HO methodologies; anticipate future market needs; monitor environmental factors affecting HO research.
  6. Project Management: Ensure research projects meet timelines, budgets, and scope, coordinating efforts with partners.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate (PhD, MD) or PharmD/MS with up to 4 years of experience in outcomes strategies/projects.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Strong communication skills; ability to translate complex scientific info; influence and collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of healthcare systems, delivery models, and clinical research.
  • Technical expertise in economic modeling, evaluation, patient outcomes, or epidemiology.
  • Ability to drive research to completion and disseminate results.
  • Global perspective with customer focus and solutions orientation.

  • Location: Indianapolis preferred, remote considered.
  • Travel may be required.
