Placements24 in Welkom, Free State, is seeking an experienced Adventure Tourism Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day management of all adventure activities, ensure safety, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. You will lead guides and staff, manage equipment, budgeting, and regulatory compliance in a region rich with outdoor potential.

This role requires 3–5 years in adventure tourism operations, relevant qualifications, and a passion for outdoor recreation.

Competenze

A qualification in Tourism Management, Operations Management, Outdoor Recreation, or a related field.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in managing operations within adventure tourism or outdoor recreation.
Demonstrated knowledge of safety standards and risk management in outdoor activities.
Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Experience with budgeting and financial management.
Certifications in First Aid and relevant outdoor activity qualifications are essential.
Proficiency in booking systems and general office software.
A passion for adventure sports and knowledge of Welkom area's tourism potential.

Oversee the planning, execution, and supervision of all adventure tourism activities (e.g., hiking, cycling, quad biking, cultural tours).
Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures for all operations, conducting regular risk assessments.
Manage, train, and motivate a team of guides and operational staff, fostering a positive and safety-conscious work environment.
Maintain and manage all operational equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition, safely stored, and regularly serviced.
Develop and manage operational budgets, controlling costs and optimizing resource allocation.
Handle customer inquiries, bookings, and feedback, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
Liaise with suppliers, local authorities, and emergency services as required.
Develop and implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
Ensure all activities offered comply with local tourism regulations and environmental guidelines.
Contribute to marketing and product development efforts for new adventure offerings.
