Job description

The Adirondack Experience (ADKX) in Blue Mountain Lake, one of upstate New York’s premier cultural institutions, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Advancement Manager to join our team. Located in the heart of the Adirondacks, ADKX offers a unique blend of outdoor recreation, cultural enrichment, and community engagement. This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and sustainability of a beloved museum that operates seasonally but maintains a dedicated year-round staff to support its mission.

The Advancement Manager (AM) plays a leadership role within the Office of Advancement, ensuring that departmental programs, systems, and staff are strategically aligned to maximize philanthropic revenue and membership growth. The AM oversees day-to-day advancement operations, supervises staff, and ensures that fundraising initiatives—including annual giving, membership, grants, special events, and campaign activity—are executed efficiently and effectively.

The AM leads the planning and implementation of the Annual Fund and Gala, supports campaign strategy and execution, and oversees a comprehensive grants program. The role requires strong project management, data fluency, and the ability to juggle multiple projects and initiatives.

Join our vibrant team and be part of an organization that values community, culture, and the natural beauty of the Adirondacks. We offer a very generous benefits package, opportunities for professional growth, and a supportive work environment dedicated to making a positive impact in the region. This position is eligible for our hybrid remote work policy. Year-round staff may work remotely two days a week during the winter months and three days onsite and may work remotely one day a week during the summer and onsite four days a week.

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, or a related field. Minimum 3–5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience preferred, including demonstrated success in annual giving, grants, events, or campaign support.
  • Proven experience in development, fundraising, or advancement roles, preferably within cultural or nonprofit organizations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Technologically proficient, with experience using donor management software (Blackbaud preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and persuasively articulate the mission, case for support, and funding priorities to donors, funders, volunteers, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 25 pounds in support of events and operational needs.
