Job summary

UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital is seeking an Advanced Veterinary Surgery Center Cleaner to support world-class clinicians and staff. You will clean and disinfect surgical suites, rooms, and equipment, restock supplies, and handle bio-waste and laundry in a fast-paced, teaching environment.

PERSONAL LEAVE

RECRUITMENT PERIOD ONE MONTH:

Applicants will be screened after two weeks; and then on a weekly basis. The position can be filled prior to the removal date.

Job Summary

Under supervision of the Center for Advanced Veterinary Surgery (CAVS) Supervisor, clean and disinfect working areas within CAVS including but not limited to surgical suites, surgical preparation room, post-anesthesia recovery room, radiology suite, open work areas, breakrooms and restrooms per protocol. Restocking of cleaning and surgical supplies including but not limited to, towels and soap, needles, syringes, surgical gloves, gowns, masks, and shoe covers. Clean and disinfect anesthesia machines, OR equipment, and all surfaces in operating rooms. Will be responsible for transporting bio-waste, laundry, and operating room equipment between the VMTH and CAVS.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
  • No Minimum Education required.
  • Experience using and working with cleaning supplies in a professional environment along with using cleaning equipment and agents.
  • Animal handling experience to assist in the performance of veterinary medical treatments and procedures.
  • Knowledge of detail-oriented cleaning.
  • Interpersonal skills to work with a diverse group of people, to include clients, clinicians, students and staff.
  • Skills to maintain inventory of supplies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a hospital setting (small animal veterinary or human) and experience working independently and managing time to ensure daily tasks are completed.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and disease processes.
  • Knowledge of common hospital pathogens and methods of disinfection.
  • Knowledge of how-to operative an Autoclave.

The VMTH is a unit that provides clinical case material in support of the teaching programs throughout the School of Veterinary Medicine on a 24-hour basis. Its primary objectives are to train professional (veterinary) students, graduate clinical students (interns and residents), and graduate academic students; to provide veterinary services to the public; to serve as a referral center for practicing veterinarians, and to advance veterinary medical knowledge.

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
