Job summary

PathGroup is seeking a qualified high-complexity testing personnel to perform accessioning and gross examination of tissue specimens under CLIA-88 guidance. The role requires handling of samples independently under the Medical Director of Pathology.

Responsibilities include gross dissections, dictations, specimen processing, and adherence to safety, privacy, and corporate policies. A specified education/training path is required, with emphasis on ABHES/CAHEA training recognition where applicable.

Qualifications

• Must be qualified as high complexity testing personnel under CLIA-88 regulations.
• Education must include accredited coursework and approved training.
• Grandfathered individuals may be eligible under CLIA-88 exceptions.
• Minimum of one year of health care environment experience.

Responsibilities

• Accession and prepare tissue specimens for gross examination.
• Perform gross dissections of complex and routine cases.
• Record gross dictations according to protocol.
• Hang tissue on processors and photograph specimens as needed.
• Prepare tissue for further testing and maintain supplies.
• Dispose of hazardous waste per procedures and keep a clean area.
• Adhere to safety, privacy, and corporate policies.

Education

Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology

60 semester hours with 24 MLT or 24 science hours incl chemistry/biology

Clinical laboratory training program ABHES/CAHEA recognized

3 months documented lab training in high complexity testing specialties

CLIA-88 high complexity testing eligibility
