Job description

As an Advanced Test Engineer at Honeywell, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the quality and reliability of aerospace products through innovative test engineering practices. You will lead the development and execution of sophisticated test plans and procedures, leveraging cutting-edge methodologies to ensure our aerospace solutions meet the highest standards of performance and safety.

You will report directly to our Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Richardson, TX location on a Hybrid work schedule. For the first 90 days, you will be onsite Monday - Friday.

In this role, you will impact the aerospace industry by ensuring that Honeywell’s aerospace products are rigorously tested and validated, contributing to safer and more efficient air travel worldwide. Use your creativity and critical thinking to take our products from concept to customer. You will lead the development and execution of sophisticated test solutions for Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs). This role involves analyzing detailed test requirements and designing advanced Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems tailored to customer specifications, creating and implementing comprehensive test strategies including test plans, acceptance procedures, and rigorous design verification processes.

The position requires leadership in enhancing team test capabilities through planning, coordination, and development of custom test equipment, including fixture design and fabrication. Responsibilities include performing RF test setup, calibration, validation, and troubleshooting of complex assemblies to ensure accurate, repeatable measurements.

The engineer will develop and maintain automated test software using National Instruments LabVIEW, integrating instrumentation and databases to enable scalable, efficient, and high-throughput testing environments. Additional duties include conducting advanced troubleshooting, failure analysis, and root cause investigations for MMIC devices and RF assemblies, as well as executing product qualification and environmental stress testing to meet industry standards.

This role also involves generating detailed technical reports, managing test data systems, supporting laboratory operations such as asset tracking and equipment maintenance, and precision work under microscopes for inspection, assembly support, and failure analysis. The ideal candidate is highly technical, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze customer specifications to define test requirements, configurations, and acceptance criteria for MMIC testing
  • Develop and implement comprehensive test plans, including ATE configurations, fixtures, and software/hardware interfaces
  • Design and maintain automated test software for ATE systems using LabVIEW, Python, C, C++, Visual Basic and other industry-standard test development tools to improve efficiency and data integrity
  • Perform RF characterization of MMIC devices, including S-parameters, output power, noise figure, and two-tone measurements
  • Set up, calibrate, and execute RF test systems and on-wafer probe testing using appropriate standards
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex RF circuits independently using strong microwave theory knowledge
  • Conduct statistical analysis and generate detailed technical reports on test results and performance
  • Manage laboratory operations, including test databases, equipment calibration, asset tracking, and vendor procurement support
Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics

  • Two (2) + years’ experience in manufacturing or in a high‑tech electronics industry
  • Two (2) + years using Microsoft Office Suite including SharePoint and Excel
WE VALUE
  • Experience developing ATE software and operating RF test equipment, including wafer probe stations, VNAs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, and RF calibration standards
  • Strong RF characterization expertise for GaN/GaAs MMICs, including S-parameters, large-signal, two-tone, and stability testing through Ka-band
  • Proficiency interpreting schematics, technical drawings, and applying core electronics and microwave theory fundamentals
  • Hands‑on experience with RF test fixtures, PCB design, and assembly, including wire bonding of MMIC devices for test readiness
  • Ability to perform precision work under a microscope with sub‑micron geometries
  • Familiarity with DoD/military qualification and testing standards
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally while also operating independently with accountability and initiative
