As an Advanced EMC Test Engineer at Honeywell, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality and reliability of our products through advanced test engineering techniques. You will lead the development and execution of sophisticated test plans and procedures, working closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure that our solutions meet rigorous standards and customer expectations. You report directly to the Director of Engineering and work out of our Freeport, IL location on an on‑site schedule.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and training to EMC test technicians.
- Perform radiated and conducted emissions/immunity testing in anechoic chambers and shielding rooms.
- Work with hardware design teams to apply EMC best practices, including grounding, shielding, component selection, and PCB layout strategies. Effectively communicate complex technical information to internal and external international cross‑functional teams.
- Ensure products meet IEC, CISPR, FCC, or automotive standards, and provide reports to support the DOC creation and submittals.
- Analyze test results to identify root causes of EMI failures and provide technical solutions for mitigation.
- Create EMC Control Plans, Test Plans, Test Procedures, and Test Reports.
- Lead the design, development, and execution of advanced test plans and procedures for complex products.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define test requirements and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Analyze test data to identify product issues and recommend improvements to enhance product performance and reliability.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior test engineers to elevate team capabilities.
- Stay current with emerging test technologies and methodologies to continually improve testing effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years in EMI/EMC design, testing, or related field.
- Deep understanding of electromagnetic theory, circuit fundamentals, and RF principles.
- Knowledge of EMC principles related to PCB layout, component selection, and filter design.
- Working knowledge of standards such as ISO Vehicle, IEC, CISPR, FCC, MIL‑STD‑461, RTCA/DO‑160.
- Experience with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, EMI receivers, signal generators, RF amplifiers, and antennas. Experience creating TILE profiles (or equivalent control software).
- Strong expertise in developing and executing complex test plans and procedures.
- Proficiency with test automation tools and data analysis techniques to improve test efficiency and accuracy.
- Experience with hardware and software integration testing in a product development environment.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to test engineering and quality assurance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- iNARTE EMC/EMI Engineer certification preferred.
- Experience working in fast‑paced, cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality products on schedule.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to adapt to evolving project requirements.
- Familiarity with scripting languages and test automation frameworks is a plus.
- Passion for continuous learning and innovation in test engineering practices.

Compensation
The annual base salary range for this position is $103,000 - $129,000. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education and training, key skills, and market and business considerations.
