Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Substation Maintenance Specialist II to perform demanding transmission/substation tasks, including switching, diagnostics, and maintenance across wind farm assets.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in O&M for power facilities, a strong understanding of relay systems, and the ability to mentor junior technicians. This role involves up to 30% travel and will support multiple North American sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in O&M for power generation, transmission or distribution.
• Ability to interpret substation one lines, relay and control drawings.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% across North American sites.
• Journeyman or Master Electrician license may substitute for 2 years experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform safe O&M activities for wind farm electrical systems.
• Conduct complex inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on substation systems.
• Write switching orders and implement lockout/tagout procedures.
• Perform diagnostic testing (relay testing, transformer oil analysis) and propose corrective actions.
• Mentor junior technicians and coordinate with contractors/vendors.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and proper documentation of work.
• Travel to North American sites as needed and support maintenance campaigns.
