Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC in Los Angeles is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician II to support decontamination, assembly, sterilization and distribution of surgical instrumentation across the organization. You will operate steam autoclaves and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, perform cleaning and loading per IFU, and maintain documentation for quality assurance and compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program; if not completed, three additional years of Sterile Processing experience.
• One year Sterile Processing experience.
• Basic computer knowledge (Windows OS, keyboard, mouse).
• Ability to operate washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Current Sterile Processing Certification (HSPA/CBSPD) or CST or TS-C from CAAHEP/ABHES, renewed before expiration.
• LA City Fire Life Safety Training within 30 days of hire (required if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Assemble and package instrument sets following protocols and inspect functionality.
• Disassemble instruments, decontaminate, and load washers per IFU.
• Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and document results.
• Dispense sterile instrumentation to locations and manage inventory.
• Assist and train other Sterile Processing Technicians.
• Troubleshoot equipment and address issues with OR and other departments.
• Prepare loads and operate sterilization equipment.
• Adhere to SPD policies and SOPs in performance of duties.
• Prepare OR case carts and inspect packaging for proper sterilization.
• Log information in Censitrac system.
• May train others and perform other duties as assigned.
