Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced embedded software engineer to design, develop, and maintain aerospace software in a cross-functional team. The role emphasizes DO-178 lifecycle compliance, testing, and collaboration with engineering and stakeholders.

Proficiency in C/C++ for avionics, experience with TAWS/EGPWS, and certification activities is essential. This on-site position in Phoenix may involve up to 10% travel and reports to the Senior Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 4+ years in Software Engineering/Development.
• Expertise in C/C++ embedded engineering in aerospace/avionics.
• Experience with TAWS/EGPWS is a plus.
• Familiarity with DO-178 B/C, DO-160 standards and processes.
• Experience with avionics development tools: Jira, Bitbucket, DOORS, CC/CQ, TeamCenter.
• Experience supporting certification activities (TSO, STC, Type Certification).
• Software architecture experience and hardware consulting knowledge.

Job description

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications for aerospace systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications
• Support embedded software development using C++ code
• Follow established processes and guidelines for the project software lifecycle on DO-178 projects
• Conduct software testing and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables
• Support the successful deployment and operation of complex systems enhancing safety, productivity, and efficiency
• Travel up to 10%
• Report directly to the Sr Engineering Manager

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in Software Engineering/Development
• Expertise in C/C++ embedded engineering and design in an aerospace/avionics environment
• Familiarity with software integration and testing
• Experience with Terrain Avoidance and Warning System (TAWS) or Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS)
• Support DO-178 B/C, DO-160 aerospace or other industry standards and processes
• Experience with avionics development tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, DOORS, CC/CQ, and TeamCenter
• Experience supporting and leading certification activities such as TSO, STC, and Type Certification
• Software architecture experience and common core software approach
• Understanding of hardware architecture and ability to consult on hardware options to optimize system performance
• Ability to describe complex technical concepts to engineering team members and business and engineering stakeholders
• Must be a U.S. Person as defined by applicable U.S. export control laws, or have the ability to obtain export authorization
• Must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States
