Job summary

Methodist Southlake Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to deliver comprehensive respiratory care for adults and neonates. The role involves assessing, treating and monitoring patients with a range of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures under indirect supervision by the medical director.

You will perform ABG, PFTs, ventilator support and related therapies, interpret CXR/ABG/PFT data, and maintain cardiopulmonary equipment while upholding infection control and safety

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• NRP/Paediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• At least 6 months of respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation with bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview and review of medical records.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers and blood gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of all equipment and work areas.
• Adapts communication to improve patient satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as required.
