Job summary

Qualifications

• AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program is required.
• Current license for Respiratory Therapy in the state of practice is required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is required.
• Healthcare Provider Life Support certification is required.
• ACLS is required for critical care.
• PALS/NALS may be required for specialty areas.

Responsibilities

• Performs, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic testing procedures according to protocol.
• Oversees operation of equipment for optimal patient care and initiates Respiratory Protocol.
• Communicates patient progress to staff, physicians and other departments; makes care recommendations.
• Educates patients and families on self-care techniques and documentation of productivity.
• Monitors supplies and equipment; participates in quality and safety initiatives.
• May float to other departments and be on-call as needed.
