Ventus Executive Solutions is seeking askilled Advanced Reactor Systems Engineer to support cutting-edge advanced nuclear and mobile microreactor programs for an innovative program office. You will serve as a primary technical interface for vendor-proposed microreactor and advanced reactor designs, developing detailed familiarity with assigned systems and providing clear, actionable technical assessments and recommendations to government leadership. This position combines hands‑on systems engineering, technical program management, design integration, requirements management, safety evaluation, technical risk assessment, and vendor oversight in support of first‑of‑a‑kind (FOAK) reactor programs.

You will be a self‑starter who can take complex and ambiguous technical challenges from identification through resolution with limited supervision. You will coordinate across government organizations, external subject-matter experts, reactor design companies, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues, manage interfaces, track program performance, and maintain program momentum. This position offers an opportunity to directly contribute to nationally significant advanced energy and defense initiatives. Clearance: U.S. Citizenship required. Active Secret Clearance preferred.

Pre-Requisites
  • Must be able to support travel to vendor sites, government facilities, test locations, and program meetings as required.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, high-visibility environment and manage multiple technical priorities with limited oversight.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering management, or a related technical field.
  • Significant professional experience in nuclear power systems, naval nuclear propulsion, advanced reactor programs, or similarly complex high-reliability engineered systems.
  • Demonstrated systems engineering and/or technical program management experience.
  • Experience with requirements management, system integration, technical risk assessment, design evaluation, or related engineering activities.
  • Experience interfacing with, overseeing, or managing technical vendors supporting complex engineered systems, capital equipment, or technology development programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently take ownership of complex, ambiguous assignments and drive them to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical information and develop clear, concise assessments, recommendations, briefings, and technical reports for senior government leadership.
  • Experience coordinating across government organizations, industry partners, subject-matter experts, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and manage system interfaces.
  • Ability to support program management activities including schedule tracking, risk management, technical performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
Desired Experience
  • Master’s degree in engineering, engineering management, nuclear engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Direct experience with microreactor or advanced reactor design, integration, testing, or safety analysis.
  • Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program experience, including Nuclear Power School, submarine nuclear operations, or land-based prototype/training reactor operations.
  • Prior SETA, government technical support, or technical advisory experience, particularly supporting SCO, DARPA, or other rapid-capability organizations.
  • Experience supporting transportation or accident scenario analyses, NEPA-related activities, or nuclear regulatory and safety frameworks.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical teams, managing technical escalations, or implementing process and organizational improvements.
  • Experience with power production, power management, AC/DC electrical systems, industrial HVAC, semiconductor capital equipment, complex product support, or other high-reliability industrial systems.
  • Experience briefing senior government, military, or industry leadership on complex technical programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex engineering concepts into actionable recommendations.
