Astrya Global Medical Staffing is hiring a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA) for a 13-week locum tenens assignment in Longview, Washington. The role focuses on general surgery with trauma rounding and operative support, with both inpatient and outpatient duties.

The schedule is 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, five days per week, with potential extension. Candidates should hold WA license, BLS and ACLS, and be comfortable on an Epic EMR system.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid Washington state license prior to start date.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA or American Red Cross.
• Epic EMR experience or comfort with clinical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Rounding and assisting trauma surgeons in General Surgery.
• Post-operative trauma care in the General Surgery clinic.
• Work 9-hour shifts (0700-1600) with alternating weekends; 4x10-hour shift option considered for right candidate.
• Provide inpatient and outpatient care services.
• Rounding and admissions duties.
• Care for adult and geriatric patients (ages 18+), 10–15 patients per day.
• Post-operative care; surgical first assist experience desired but not mandatory.
• Hospitalist background experience preferred.
• Assist trauma surgeons intraoperatively as needed; vein harvesting/robotic surgery not required.
• Perform wound care procedures.
• Operate within an MD sponsorship/support staff supervision model.
• Co-sign for prescriptive authority until independent.
• Utilize Epic EMR system for all clinical documentation.
• Comply with flu vaccine requirement (medical/religious exemptions allowed).

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA) for a locum tenens assignment in Longview, Washington. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.

Responsibilities for a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA):

• Provide Advanced Practice Provider (APP) services in General Surgery with primary responsibility for rounding and assisting trauma surgeons
• Perform secondary responsibilities in the General Surgery clinic for post-operative trauma care
• Work variable 9-hour shifts (0700-1600) with alternating weekends; open to 4x10-hour shift schedule for the right candidate
• Provide both inpatient and outpatient care services
• Perform rounding and admissions duties
• Care for adult and geriatric patients (ages 18+), managing an average of 10-15 patients per day
• Provide post-operative care; surgical first assist experience desired but not mandatory
• Apply hospitalist background experience, which is strongly preferred for this role
• Assist trauma surgeons intraoperatively as needed (OR first assist or other intraoperative assistance required; vein harvesting and robotic surgery experience not required)
• Perform wound care procedures
• Operate within an MD sponsorship/support staff supervision model
• Utilize co-sign process for prescriptive authority until independent acquisition is complete
• Utilize Epic EMR system for all clinical documentation
• Maintain current BLS and ACLS certifications (must be from AHA or American Red Cross)
• Hold a valid Washington state license prior to start date
• Provide documentation (case list) of clinical services representative of scope and complexity of privileges requested within the previous 24 months, including diagnosis or procedure, date, and facility where performed
• Comply with flu vaccine requirement (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Collaborate with a team that may include trauma surgeons and a complementary PA in the clinic setting
