The APP hired for this position will join a collaborative team of APPs, physicians, and specialists managing critically ill patients at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA, within UVA School of Medicine’s Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine and UVA Health’s Center for Advanced Practice.
Following onboarding, MICU APPs will manage 4-6 ICU patients with a broad spectrum of diseases, emphasizing autonomy in a practice model supported by physician colleagues. UVA fosters a culture of ongoing education and professional development for engaged learners.
Includes collaboration with medical directors, independent judgment in patient assessment, diagnosis, procedures, medication management, referrals, patient education, participation in on-call duties, adherence to policies, coding, continuing education, and mentoring students and staff.
Prolonged standing, bending, reaching, repetitive motions, and lifting 50-100 lbs. May be exposed to various hazards including infectious materials.
