Job description

UOVUNIUSREXTERNALENUS UVA Health Emergency Medicine is seeking an experienced APP (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate) to collaborate with an exceptional interprofessional team to staff a medical center emergency department. This position requires an innovative and collaborative individual who thrives in a fast-paced academic clinical environment. The position also involves working a rotating schedule, including nights and weekends.

- Initial interviews will be virtual and approximately 1 hour long.
- A second round of in-person interviews may follow.

Responsibilities

1. Work in conjunction with the medical director, management, nursing, and other team members to facilitate patient care across the healthcare system.
2. Exercise independent judgment in assessment, diagnosis, and medical procedures as credentialed.
3. Perform and document health histories and physical assessments, including emergency interventions as needed.
4. Formulate diagnoses, identify problems, and communicate with the healthcare team.
5. Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies.
6. Perform procedures within scope and privileges.
7. Order medications and treatments per regulations.
8. Request consultations and referrals to specialists.
9. Evaluate patient responses to treatments and interventions.
10. Provide education and support to patients and families.
11. Participate in on-call duties as assigned.
12. Manage patients following UVA policies and procedures.
13. Report critical health information to authorities promptly.
14. Meet quality standards and serve on committees as needed.
15. Contribute to clinical education and peer review activities.
16. Prepare reports and correspondence related to professional services.
17. Promote professional practice and serve as a resource.
18. Follow policies and accurately code procedures.
19. Engage in continuing education and professional development.
20. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Compensation Range

$100,817.60 - $161,304.00 annually

Minimum Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.
• Experience: Department and unit specific.
• Licensure: Valid or license-eligible as an APP in Virginia, with specific requirements for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
• Current BLS certification; PALS/NRP and ACLS as required.

Physical Demands

Standing for prolonged periods, bending, reaching, repetitive motions, lifting 50-100 lbs., and exposure to various hazards.
