Job description

UVA Health Emergency Medicine is seeking an experienced APP (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate) to collaborate with an exceptional interprofessional team to staff a medical center emergency department. This position requires an innovative and collaborative individual who thrives in a fast-paced academic clinical environment. The position involves working a rotating schedule, including nights and weekends.

Interview Process
  1. Initial virtual interviews, approximately 1 hour in length.
  2. Potential second-round in-person interviews.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the medical director, management, nursing, and other team members to facilitate patient care.
  • Exercise independent judgment in assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of medical processes, within credentialing limits.
  • Perform and document health histories and physical assessments, including emergency procedures as needed.
  • Formulate diagnoses, identify problems, and communicate with the healthcare team.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies.
  • Perform procedures within scope and credentialing.
  • Order medications and treatments according to regulations.
  • Request consultations and make referrals as needed.
  • Evaluate patient responses to interventions.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families.
  • Participate in on-call duties as appropriate.
  • Manage patients following UVA policies and procedures.
  • Report critical health information to authorities in a timely manner.
  • Meet quality standards and participate in committees and educational activities.
  • Involve in clinical education of students and residents.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and coding.
  • Engage in professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Details

Compensation Range: $100,817.60 - $161,304.00 annually.

Minimum Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or PA program with a master's degree.
  • Virginia licensure or eligibility as an Advanced Practice Provider.
  • Current BLS, PALS/NRP, and ACLS certifications as required.
Physical Demands

Standing for prolonged periods, bending, reaching, repetitive motions, lifting/pushing/pulling 50-100 lbs., and exposure to various physical and infectious hazards.
