Job description

UVA Health Emergency Medicine is seeking an experienced APP (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate) to collaborate with an interprofessional team to staff a medical center emergency department. This position requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced academic clinical environment and is willing to work a rotating schedule, including nights and weekends.

Interview Process

1. Initial virtual interviews (~1 hour).
2. Potential in-person second-round interviews.

Responsibilities

• Work with the medical director, management, nursing, and other team members to facilitate patient care.
• Exercise independent judgment in assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of medical procedures, as credentialed.
• Perform health histories, physical assessments, and emergency procedures.
• Formulate diagnoses, identify problems, and communicate with the healthcare team.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies.
• Perform procedures within scope and credentialing.
• Order medications and treatments per Virginia regulations.
• Refer patients to specialists as needed.
• Evaluate patient responses to treatments.
• Educate and support patients and families.
• Participate in on-call duties and adhere to policies and procedures.
• Report critical health information to authorities as required.
• Participate in quality assurance, committees, and educational activities.
• Manage documentation, billing codes, and professional development.

Position Details

Salary range: $100,817.60 - $161,304.00 annually.

Minimum Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited graduate nursing or PA program with a master's degree.
• Virginia licensure or eligibility as an Advanced Practice Provider.
• Current BLS, PALS/NRP, and ACLS certifications as required.

Physical Demands

Prolonged standing, bending, reaching, repetitive motions, and lifting/pushing/pulling 50-100 lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, infectious materials.
