Job summary

Children's Minnesota is seeking a Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Emergency Department teams in St. Paul and Minneapolis.

The APP will deliver direct pediatric care in a fast-paced environment, practicing to the full scope of licensure within a team-based model with attending physicians. We welcome a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with inpatient pediatrics experience, BLS, and PALS, and offer opportunities to provide high-quality, family-centered care

Qualifications

• Current MN RN/APRN License.
• Board Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) with PNCB or ANCC; DNP in Nursing Practice preferred.
• Physician Assistant Certification by NCCPA and MN Medical Board license required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage pediatric patients in the ED.
• Collaborate with attending physicians and care team to deliver safe, high-quality care.
• Rotate within the pediatric emergency department across St. Paul and Minneapolis locations.
• Ensure timely ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests and treatments.

Join a dynamic pediatric emergency medicine team at Children's Minnesota! We are seeking a passionate Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) who enjoys caring for a diverse pediatric population and is committed to delivering exceptional care to children and families.

Position Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will practice as an independent clinician while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team. This role is responsible for the direct care and clinical management of pediatric patients at our St. Paul and Minneapolis Emergency Department locations. APPs in the pediatric emergency department practice to the full scope of their licensure within a team-based model that includes both independent patient visits and shared visits alongside an attending physician.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage pediatric patients presenting with a wide range of acute and traumatic conditions
• Obtain histories, perform physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and implement treatment plans
• Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions appropriate to the patient population
• Collaborate with attending physicians, pediatric specialists, and the interdisciplinary care team to deliver safe, efficient, high-quality care

Schedule Requirements

• We are open to a range of 0.8 to 1.0 FTE, depending on candidate interest and program needs.
• Rotating schedule that includes weekends and holidays

The Children's Emergency departments, located in Minneapolis and St. Paul, are staffed 24 hours-a-day by board-eligible or board-certified pediatric emergency physicians and by nurses with specialized education in pediatric emergency medicine. Each facility is designed to support short-stay needs, coordinate pediatric and neonatal care transport, assault and abuse services, access to pediatric specialists, and emergency telephone consultation and referral.

Education/ License / Certification / Experience

APRN Requirements

Current MN RN/APRN License. Nationally Board Certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with either the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice preferred

Physician Assistant Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Physician Assistant Certification by the NCCPA Certification Board and MN Medical Board license required.

Experience

• Current/previous experience in inpatient pediatrics as a nurse, nurse practitioner, or PA preferred.
• Current BLS certification
• Current PALS required with 3 months of hire
