Job summary

UTMB Health seeks an Advanced Practice Provider for the Coleman Unit in Texas. You will perform clinical care in collaboration with the unit physician under approved protocols and manage medical aspects of care for inmates.

Responsibilities include conducting histories and exams, ordering tests, documenting in EMR, monitoring treatment, and providing preventive health counseling. Requires PA or NP credentials and Texas licensure; corrections environment experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Completion of a physician assistant program accredited by ARC-PA.
• Certification by NCCPA.
• Licensed Physician Assistant by TPAB/TMB.
• Completion of a graduate level NP program accredited by ACEN/CCNE.
• Certification by ANCC or AANP.
• Licensed RN and APRN (TBON) in Texas.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical care in collaboration with the unit physician under approved protocols.
• Manages medical aspects of care in observation, assessment, diagnosis, intervention and rehabilitation.
• Documents histories, physical exams and relevant clinical information with proper medical records.
• Monitors treatment progress; counsels patients on preventive medicine.
• Provides health instruction about medical problems, nutrition, medication and health maintenance.
• Represents physician in delegated duties; coordinates with interdisciplinary team.
