Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Madison in Madison, Wisconsin, is seeking an experienced Acute Care NP or PA-C to join a team of Critical Care Intensivists on a 6 PM to 6 AM schedule.

The role involves admission, treatment, and cross-coverage duties within a 12-bed Medical ICU, 15-bed Surgical ICU, and a 12-bed Progressive Care Unit. Candidates should have 2+ years of critical care experience, NP or PA certification, and Wisconsin licensure eligibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of current Critical Care practice experience as an NP or PA.
• APRN with Acute Care NP certification.
• Certified PA.
• 3-5 years of prior critical care nursing with CCRN certification required for NP applicants.
• Ability to obtain NP or PA licensure in Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

• Admission, treatment, and cross-coverage duties in the ICU setting.
• Perform central line placement (venous and arterial), ETT intubation, and chest tube placement.
• Collaborate closely with ICU nurses, respiratory therapists, and intensivists.
• Ongoing training in procedures and building advanced critical care knowledge and skills.

Job Description

SSM Health Dean Medical Group, a 500-physician multi-specialty group, is actively recruiting for an experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our team of Critical Care Intensivists. The practice is conveniently based on the campus of SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years of current Critical Care practice experience as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
• NPs should be APRNs with Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification.
• Certified PA.
• 3-5 years of prior critical care nursing practice experience with CCRN certification required for NP applicants.
• Ability to obtain NP or PA licensure in Wisconsin.

The Opportunity

• Shifts are 6 PM- 6 AM, with 2-5 shifts on consecutive days.
• Overnight telehealth coverage for other SSM Health Wisconsin hospitals.
• Clinical responsibilities will include admission, treatment, and cross-coverage duties.
• Perform central line placement (venous and arterial), ETT intubation, and chest tube placement.

• The hospital has a 12-bed closed Medical Intensive Care Unit, a 15-bed open Surgical Intensive Care Unit, and a 12-bed Progressive Care Unit.
