Job summary

Core4ce is hiring a research scientist in Dayton to lead design, synthesis, and advanced formulation of polymeric materials for defense and optical applications. You will optimize resin packages, tune cure kinetics, and perform comprehensive materials characterization in collaboration with a diverse team. The role includes mentoring, publications, and presenting findings at conferences.

The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. or M.S.

Qualifications

• Ph.D., M.S. or equivalent in Chemistry, Polymer Science & Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• At least 3 years of post-degree laboratory experience in polymer synthesis, formulation development, and materials characterization preferred.
• Ability to work in a chemical lab following EHS protocols.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute research programs on advanced polymer formulations for defense and optical applications.
• Synthesize, compound, and optimize polymeric materials and resin matrices.
• Develop and refine formulations with crosslinkers, initiators, catalysts, and fillers.
• Perform thermal and mechanical characterization (DSC, TGA, DMA, rheology).
• Write scripts for data reduction and LIMS integration.
• Mentor junior scientists and collaborate with government, academic, and industry partners.
