Job summary

Ascension Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Pensacola, FL area. The role supports Medical Oncology, ensuring accurate order preparation, proper stock management, and precise compounding for sterile and non-sterile medications.

Responsibilities include maintaining automated dispensing systems and serving as a communication link among the pharmacy, patients, and other healthcare professionals. Hospital experience and Florida licensure are preferred.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Registered Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Florida Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• IV chemotherapy compounding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare orders and manage inventory for the department and receive/store supplies.
• Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounds and repackage bulk medications for dispensing.
• Ensure reliable operation of automated dispensing systems by refilling and maintaining them.
• Triage calls, provide essential information, and liaise between the pharmacy, patients, and other healthcare professionals.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent (with 2 years of cumulative experience)

Associate's degree/Technical degree

4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Preparing orders, managing inventory levels for the department, and efficiently receiving and storing incoming supplies.

• Apply meticulous attention to detail while preparing sterile and non-sterile compounds and repackaging bulk medications for dispensing.

• Ensure the reliable operation of our automated dispensing systems by expertly refilling and maintaining them.

• Serve as a vital communication linkâtriage incoming calls, provide essential information, and act as a professional liaison between the pharmacy, patients, and other healthcare professionals.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• One or more of the following required:

• Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

• Registered Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Florida Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Additional Preferences

• IV chemotherapy compounding experience.
