Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Patient Care Technician - Specialist to support nursing in a busy hospital unit. You will perform ADLs, assist with procedures, monitor patients, and transport as needed, under RN supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and CPR certification, with opportunities to advance to advanced skills per department needs. Experience with eRecord and telemetry is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Offer includes training for patient care technician responsibilities.
• CPR is required or obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care under RN supervision, including ADLs and safety.
• Report equipment malfunctions and assist with unit activities.
• Perform point-of-care testing, vital signs, I&O, and telemetry prep.
• Assist with IV insertions, catheter care, specimen collection, and dressing changes.
• Provide patient and family education as directed by the RN.
• Support department initiatives and accurate documentation.
