Job summary

UPMC Northwest is seeking a full-time Patient Care Technician - Specialist for the Emergency Department. The role focuses on direct patient care, safety, and collaboration with nursing staff to maintain efficient patient flow.

Responsibilities include ADLs, vital signs, transport, basic testing, documentation, and support for IV/catheter procedures as directed by the RN. Must be able to assist with wound care and phlebotomy as needed.

Qualifications

• Cares for patients following nursing directions and hospital protocol.
• Demonstrates safety awareness and ability to report equipment issues.
• Ability to perform routine nursing assistant tasks and basic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Cares for patients and self by supporting safety in the workplace.
• Assures equipment malfunctions are reported to the appropriate department.
• Performs ADLs, checks vitals, and assists with basic procedures as directed by RN.
• Transports patients and assists with meals, call lights, and telephones.
• Performs injections, catheter work, phlebotomy, and routine dressings as needed.
