Job summary

Southwire Company, LLC in Heflin, Alabama, is seeking a Level II Maintenance Technician to support manufacturing with multi-craft maintenance emphasizing reliability and maintainability. You will perform preventive maintenance on motors, conveyors, and production equipment while contributing to process improvements.

The role requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, the ability to read schematics, and mentoring of junior staff.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical and electrical background.
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, CMMS, etc.).
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and OEM manuals.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Must be familiar with shop tools (drill press, band saw, portable tools).
• Ability to read precision measuring devices.
• Ability to mentor and train other technicians.
• Must handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• 2-year Technical Degree desired.
• Minimum of 5 years of industrial manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions using logical methods.
• Install and align mechanical drive systems.
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks including major service.
• Replace identified failed parts or components.
• Adjust equipment to specifications.
• Maintain lubrication requirements.
• Recommend process changes based on equipment behavior.
• Test electrical systems and circuits for safety and operation.
• Install/repair electrical wiring and lighting components.
• Maintain maintenance records for history and planning.
• Train junior technicians on equipment service.
