Job summary
Amentum is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Specialist to support key programs at NSWC Crane. You will develop, execute, and analyze models and simulations to evaluate unmanned systems performance, survivability, and effectiveness in challenging operational environments, collaborating with systems engineers, scientists, and test personnel to inform design decisions and support test planning.
The role requires strong M&S expertise for defense systems, experience with DoD simulation environments,
Qualifications
- ABET-accredited engineering, CS, or mathematics degree.
- 7+ years in engineering or scientific research.
- Experience with M&S tools and defense system performance analysis.
- Active Secret US Government clearance.
- Experience with live/constructive/virtual DoD simulations.
- Familiar with AFSIM, ITASE, MATLAB, Python, SysML.
Responsibilities
- Develop, verify, and validate models and simulations representing unmanned system platforms, subsystems, and operational environments.
- Design and execute simulation studies to assess system performance, survivability, autonomy behaviors, and mission effectiveness.
- Support trade studies and technical risk assessments by providing modeling-based analysis.
- Collaborate with systems engineers and test personnel to align modeling efforts with test and evaluation planning.
- Analyze and interpret simulation output, preparing clear reports, briefings, and visualizations for engineers and government stakeholders.
- Maintain and enhance simulation tools, frameworks, and databases with configuration control.
- Support development of M&S plans, V&V documentation, and accreditation packages as required.
- Identify data/tool gaps and suggest improvements.
- Participate in technical interchange meetings, design reviews, and program reviews.
