Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Systems Engineer II to support NSWC Crane programs in Indiana. You will lead systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle for Counter-Unmanned Systems, coordinating with scientists, engineers, and government stakeholders to ensure performance and interoperability.

The role emphasizes architecture development, integration of subsystems, and requirements management, with a focus on survivability, autonomy, and security in contested environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field
• 7+ years of systems engineering experience across DoD programs and lifecycle stages
• Experience with C-UxS or layered sensor/defeat systems and MBSE
• Familiarity with ICD/interface requirements development and ECP reviews
• Knowledge of virtualization, cloud platforms, and containerization
• Strong system design, implementation, and lifecycle management skills
• Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
• Understand cybersecurity principles for secure systems
• Excellent problem solving and technical communication
• Active Secret US Government Clearance (citizenship required)

Responsibilities

• Lead SE activities across full lifecycle for C-UxS platforms and subsystems
• Develop and maintain system architecture products, ICDs, and baselines
• Translate operational requirements into technical specs with traceability
• Perform trade studies and risk assessments for survivability and performance
• Integrate subsystems into unified unmanned platforms
• Develop test strategies and review procedures against requirements
• Design and implement comprehensive system architectures and solutions
• Oversee hardware, software, networking, and data integration
• Monitor performance and troubleshoot to drive improvements
• Define system requirements with cross-functional teams
• Create detailed documentation of designs and configurations
• Conduct testing and validation for security and performance
• Stay updated with tech advancements and propose standard updates
• Support upgrades, patches, and deployment to minimize disruption
• Assess risks to system performance and security
• Help implement policies and best practices for SE
