Job summary

The City of Lubbock is seeking a field technician to operate and maintain the advanced metering infrastructure for the public water system. You will install, diagnose, and repair meters, inspect software and hardware, and respond to meter-related issues affecting billing and service.

Responsibilities include servicing meters, maintaining inventory, and educating customers on water quality and billing concerns. A valid license is required, with licensing supported within 12 months as applicable.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with two years of customer service experience, or an equivalent combo of education and training.
Ability to inspect and diagnose metering technology and perform routine maintenance.
Knowledge of water quality concepts and safety practices is preferred.

Responsibilities

Inspect and diagnose metering technology using dedicated software for billing or fault analysis.
Install, repair, and maintain meters, vaults, and ancillary equipment.
Respond to meter-related emergencies and customer inquiries promptly.
Maintain inventory of meters, registers, and radio devices for the system.
Educate customers on water quality, billing issues, and metering infrastructure.
