Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Salisbury VA Medical Center, is seeking an Advanced Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to perform high-complexity testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology and blood bank.

The incumbent will operate instruments, ensure data integrity in the LIS, and participate in quality management and safety initiatives. Position involves independent work, potential weekend/holiday coverage, and adherence to VA accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required.
• English language proficiency required for appointment.
• Certification as MLT by ASCP/AMT/AAB or equivalent.
• Education must meet certification requirements.
• Grandfathering provision may apply to current VA employees.

Responsibilities

• Perform procedures across chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology and blood bank.
• Independently operate and troubleshoot lab instruments.
• Generate and verify results in the LIS.
• Maintain quality control documentation and records.
• Work schedule includes evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
