Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Little Rock, AR seeks an Advanced Medical Laboratory Technician capable of performing waived to complex tests across Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Serology and Urinalysis.

The role requires a bachelor's degree or higher, appropriate certification, and the ability to work independently with strong knowledge of CLIA and QA/QC procedures. The position includes standard daytime hours with federal benefits.

Qualifications

• Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship; A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university; Certification: candidates must meet one of the appropriate Medical Laboratory Technician certifications (ASCP BOC, ASCP BOR, AMT, AAB, or foreign education); Knowledge of MLT principles, quality control/assurance, and instrumentation; Ability to work independently and troubleshoot complex lab equipment; Preferred experience in moderate/high complexity testing and phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of laboratory testing and examination of blood, urine, body fluids and other specimens.
• Collect blood specimens using venipuncture or finger stick techniques and verify patient identity.
• Label, centrifuge, and aliquot samples; maintain pre-analytical to post-analytical specimen integrity.
• Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment; apply complex written instructions and regulations.
• Coordinate intra-laboratory specimen transport and communication with satellite laboratories.
• Follow safety, universal precautions, PPE use, and work in a properly equipped laboratory.
